Exploring Chigayaco: A Journey of Reflection and Inspiration

In May 2023, I embarked on a transformative journey to Chigayaco, nestled deep within the Putumayo rainforest. This trip was not just about reconnecting with nature but also understanding the profound history of the region and its resilient people.

One of the most impactful experiences was visiting the Museum of Memory in El Placer. Founded by Father Nelson Cruz Soler in 1996, this museum preserves the harrowing history of violence and conflict in the region. The exhibits, including artistic stones, war artifacts, and everyday items riddled with bullet holes, tell the story of the community’s struggle and resilience. This visit deepened my appreciation for the peace efforts made by the local people and reinforced my commitment to Proyecto Chigayaco.
