Celebrating Success and Looking Ahead: Expanding Proyecto Chigayaco
We are thrilled to announce that we have successfully reached our initial fundraising goal of $6,000! This milestone has enabled us to reclaim and protect four hectares of rainforest in Putumayo, Colombia. This incredible achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support from our community and donors.
Our Accomplishments
Thanks to your contributions, we’ve managed to:
Protect Four Hectares of Rainforest: We have successfully reclaimed and safeguarded a four-hectare plot of land that was previously devastated by deforestation.
Support Local Livelihoods: The funds raised have directly benefited the landowner, allowing him to start a sustainable business to support his family of seven.
Restore Natural Habitats: We’ve witnessed the natural regeneration of the protected land, with vegetation and wildlife returning to the area.
Expanding Our Conservation Efforts
Our success has inspired the landowner to offer us an additional eight hectares of untouched jungle at a discounted price. To seize this opportunity, we are now working to raise an additional $7,000. This expansion will not only protect more land but also support the local community’s sustainable development.
Celebrating with Our Community
To celebrate this significant milestone, we are planning a party in Mount Pleasant, the community that played a crucial role in our success. We are in the planning stages right now, and the celebration will take place before the end of the summer. Mount Pleasant is particularly special to us because 65% of our donations were received while directly speaking to the public in this neighborhood.
Event Highlights:
Colombian Music: Enjoy traditional Colombian music, with the hope of having live performances.
Art Activities: Children and friends can help us paint name placards of each donor, which will be hung on the trees in Chigayaco.
Fundraising: The event will be an opportunity to share our new goal and continue fundraising efforts to protect the additional land.
